Promoting Active Pedagogy
through Virtual Reality
With the experiences of:
Students create with the company:
Speakers: Catherine Gérardin, teacher and head of the Logistic and Transport Management IUT at the University of Franche-Comté
Mickael Delamadeleine, Quality analyst and Uptale referent at Stellantis
Students at the University of Franche-Comté create modules as part of their training. This system allows them to explore and understand their expertise in depth. Completed over several weeks, the modules are then used by Stellantis in the training of their newcomers.
The Stellantis Vesoul production site was looking for a way to increase the learners’ and trainers’ focus in a modern and efficient way. Very quickly, they thought of Virtual Reality. The partnership allows the students to train, and the production site to benefit from meticulously created training modules.
Results
- 4 modules and ongoing projects.
- Time saving: 30min per learner versus 3h before.
- Involvement of creation increases understanding and retention.
- A dynamic and innovative image of the company.
« We wanted to start integrating new technologies because the professions for which we train our students are evolving towards connected tools. We wanted to respond with new ways of learning, and using virtual reality was the first step.
At the beginning, our objective was to produce a one-off project for the students, but then they showed us all the advantages of being actors in virtual creation. »

Teachers are challenged to carry out training after the announcement of numerous reforms without change in the teaching staff.
– Double the number of students
– A profound change in teaching: Competence, evaluation of know-how (ECOS)
In this context, it is necessary to find solutions to meet the pedagogical needs of students while maintaining a quality standard. Simulation has therefore been developed on mannequins, in role plays and also in virtual reality.
Results
The first module deals with morphine titration, a situation not often encountered by students during their internship. This experience will be deployed to all sixth year students.
« We have a lot of projects. We can make the scenarios more complex or simpler depending on the target (students, nurses, doctors). We want to multiply these experiences to other specialties and health professions starting next year on 100 to 150 student classes. »
