The Challenge

How do you train thousands of store employees and managers in an engaging, measurable, and scalable way?

That was the challenge Monoprix tackled using Uptale’s conversational AI, with results that surprised even their own leadership.

The Approach

Monoprix co-built with Uptale two immersive roleplay modules integrated directly into its LMS:

  • A Sales SOP module for checkout staff: simulations of complex situations (impatient customer, conflict, upselling) with immediate feedback and infinitely replayable training.
  • A Soft Skills module for managers: training in constructive feedback and on-floor coaching, with simulations of different employee profiles.

Both modules were launched simultaneously to create a shared language between teams and managers, forming a new learning ecosystem.

The Results

+6 NPS points: 3× the initial target of +2 pts, achieved from the POC phase

~5,000 employees trained: Started as a POC across 21 stores and 2,412 employees, now deployed nationally

Focus on a high-stakes situation and define your KPIs. A well-framed POC convinces leadership.
Train managers and teams together
Launching both modules simultaneously creates a shared language and turns the manager into a true on-floor coach.

FAQ

How many headsets are needed per store?

For conversational AI, no VR headsets are required — existing equipment is enough: tablets, PCs, and/or phones with audio headsets.

How does the module integrate with the LMS?

Via an SSO link: the employee clicks “Start Training” from their usual LMS and the experience launches directly.

Uptale is compatible with SCORM, LTI, and xAPI.

A GDPR legal review regarding data is recommended — Uptale is 100% compliant.

Does the employee receive feedback at the end of the session?

Yes, both during the session (in real time, to improve their response) and at the end.

A summary screen shows strengths and areas for improvement. A detailed report with transcript and certificate can also be sent by email, everything is configurable.

Is the AI a live avatar or a scripted scenario?

For these modules, it uses scripted scenarios with branching paths, with the goal of training staff on the right phrasing and showing the consequences of each response.

Uptale’s live conversational avatar is a separate option, better suited to free-form practice.

How many learners per group?

5 learners per group to produce a complete scenario.
